Anatomy of a shipment

One shipment, step by step.

A representative route, Shanghai to Monterrey by ocean, with the step, the hand responsible and the document that moves at each stage. This is a process walkthrough, not a client case.

  1. Origin: Shanghai

    Eltosai coordinates

We book space with the carrier, set the document calendar and validate the commercial invoice and packing list with the shipper before anything moves.

Document: Booking confirmation, invoice, packing list

  2. Ocean leg to Manzanillo

    Partner executes

The carrier loads the container and sails. We follow the vessel and prepare the arrival file while the freight is on the water.

    Document: Ocean bill of lading

  3. Customs preparation and pre-filing

    Eltosai coordinates

We assemble the import file (classification, values, permits) and check it line by line, so the filing goes in complete, before the vessel arrives.

    Document: Import file, tariff classification

  4. Pedimento filed at Manzanillo

    Partner executes

A licensed partner customs broker files the pedimento under their own patente at Aduana de Manzanillo and pays the duties on the importer's behalf.

    Document: Pedimento

  5. Arrival, semaphore and release

    Partner executes

The terminal discharges the container; customs assigns the fiscal semaphore. On green, the DODA, the digital document linking the pedimento, the transport and the cargo, authorizes the unit to leave the port.

    Document: DODA (digital operation document)

  6. Inland leg to Monterrey

    Partner executes

A vetted carrier moves the container inland under a carta porte, with milestone updates to the client file at departure and arrival.

    Document: Carta porte

  7. Delivery and file close

    Eltosai coordinates

We confirm delivery with the consignee and close the file: pedimento, transport documents and invoices organized for your records and any later audit.

    Document: Complete shipment file

Times vary by lane and season. Your formal quote confirms the schedule for your shipment.
